Purpose simply means, the reason which something exists or something is done. When the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. God is a God of purpose. Every man is created for a reason; nobody is created by chance. It is important for one to discover and know the reason of his/her existence. Even if you came into the world out of wedlock, there is still a purpose for you. Many people are just existing without living out their purpose. When we understand the purpose of our existence in life, we will fulfill purpose.
God in his almightiness has predestined everyone in life. He already knows what or who you are and what you will do according to His own purpose and grace. He has a purpose for everyone, and He also supplies us with grace to fulfill it. This is to say, He already planned your life.
HOW TO FULFILL PURPOSE.
- Discover the purpose: You need to discover the reason for which you are created in this life. You can do that through listening to the leaders that God has placed over and around your life.
- Through prayers: When we pray, God reveals to us what He wants us to do.
- Spiritual sensitivity: We are not in this world for sight-seeing. Life is spiritual and only the one that is spiritually aware will conquer.
Similarly, man is likened to a footballer playing in a pitch. There is a purpose for every player in a football field and it is to score a goal and not to be a spectator. And if that player isn’t playing to score a goal, then there is a problem. God expects that you don’t waste His resources deposited in your life. He wants you to fulfill purpose.
More so, man is also likened to a house under construction. Every worker has a specific thing to do. The tiler, plumber, carpenters etc. They all have several things to do. The carpenter doesn’t get involved with the plumbering work neither does he starts tiling the house, he sticks to the carpentry job. However, you may discover that even as long as you have been in the house of the Lord, you may really not have done anything for the Lord. Because, you have not discovered your purpose.
Therefore, the moment one closes his/her eyes in death, the first question which pops up to that person is, “what have you done with your life while alive?”
Again, there are people who have discovered their purpose but they don’t like what they have been called to do. They keep admiring other people doing and fulfilling their own purpose, and often times they leave their own purpose and go after the other people’s purpose and even miss the grace that accompanies their purpose. Other times, they purposely chase others out of their purpose to occupy there but no matter how much they try, they can’t do what the other person has been called to do, because that is not the area of their calling.
It is worthy to note that, there are individual purpose and general purpose for everyone on earth. It is like being in a university offering your major course and also doing the general course.
We are created to give God pleasure, if we don’t give him pleasure, we make him unhappy.
THINGS THAT GIVE GOD PLEASURE
- Praise God: Praise is comely. Praise God for what He has done.
- Worship: We worship him for who He is and what He is.
- Eulogize Him: Call Him beautiful names.
- Live uprightly and righteously (Matt 6:33)
- Let your ways be pleasing to Him
- Be an extension of His hands by helping others. When you are not helping the needy around you, you are not making God happy.
Even in your needy situation, you can still fund someone you are better than and offer help, no matter how little. You can render service without using money. You can help in tidying the house, washing, taking care of people who are sick or helpless.
God wants you to be an extension. Many times, we have missed a lot of things because we are too conscious of money.
Be an extension of God’s hand by reaching out to people.
