Technology in our world today makes life easier and less stressful for everyone though something spectacular actually got me thinking which is the world’s present economic situation. It seems as though technological advancement couldn’t do much in improving our economy and on a daily basis we experience what I call a collapse in our home economics, not just the country at large. The use of credit cards, mobile phones etc are all part of technological advancement which have invariably plunged many into the habit of exceeding their income and budget which eventually leads to endless indebtedness. John c Maxwell once said, ” A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went”. In effect, it is good you make a budget and compare it with your income because it will make you not to overspend and fall short of your desired end. Before you spend, first of all, consider what your priorities are, ask yourself these vital questions; can’t I do without this? Do I really need this? Assess your costs, determine a budget and make a very unwavering commitment and discipline to adhere to it. Make up your mind to stop buying things to impress people around you. Come to think of it ; that land, house, car, jewellery, clothes or phone you want to buy, do you really need it? There are some clothes you bought that you never wore and you ended up giving out, some you just wore once and have even forgotten you bought them. Sometimes, you borrow to buy uniforms to attend burials and weddings yet when it comes to giving for kingdom expansion, your human sense comes to play and gives you the “I don’t have” excuse for that. Some people have led themselves into miserable living because of borrowing in order to meet up with unnecessary things which they end up not being able to pay. Beloved, for a better life and absolute peace of mind, one should always endeavour to live within one’s means, avoid overspending and the trauma that comes with it.
Food for thought:
In life, learn to count the cost of any endeavour and see if it is necessary before you enter it.
