Daily Reading: Hosea 4: 1-10
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me, seeing thou has forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.” vs. 6
Majority of God’s children believe in the name of Jesus Christ and surrendered their lives unto Him but they do not care to study in other to know Him. They profess to be born again but are ignorant of the ways of the LORD. They misbehave and think that they will be pardoned on the ground of ignorance. All these bring reproach to the name of the LORD and to the Kingdom of God.Beloved listen, Ignorance is no excuse! The Bible states in our key verse thus; “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest to me…, I will also forget your children.”This is a very serious statement. Note that God’s children are not just destroyed by sin, iniquities or such like according to Hosea, but they are destroyed by lack of knowledge. Ignorance prevents God’s people from knowing all that God has given unto them. Jesus has paid the price for sin but ignorance makes you bear the consequence of sin. God has given you all that pertain to life and godliness but ignorance blinds your eyes. It even makes God not to look favorably on your children.Beloved, arise and do something.
Studying or listening intently to the word of God eliminates ignorance. It gives you knowledge and understanding.Having knowledge of the Word of God is one of the good things that happen to any child of God. The Word of God is God Himself. John 1:1 states; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Truly, your level of Christianity is dependent on the level of the word of God in you.At the same time, some people have not surrendered their lives onto the LORD Jesus Christ. They have not accepted His Lordship. They do not have an excuse either. The Bible states in John 15:22 thus; “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.”Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one goes to the Father except through Him. Salvation is through no other means except through Him. The Bible states that with heart man believes unto righteousness, but with mouth confession is made unto salvation.The gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ has been preached to all the nooks and crannies of the world and none has an excuse why he should not surrender his life unto the LORD. Nowadays, the gospel is being preached in the Bible believing churches, fellowships, through radios, televisions, internets, tracts, text messages, in buses and even along the roads. No one will boldly state that he has not heard it through one way or the other. The truth is that some pretend that they do not hear it, some ignore it, some postpone it, some laugh over it and others openly mock or criticize it. No matter what you make out of it, the truth is that you have not an excuse on the last day because the Word of God has been made known unto you.As we move on in this month of discovery, the word of God will open our eyes and we discover the great truth that will turn things around for good in our lives. Prayerfully sing this song:
Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth thou hast for me; place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free. Silently now I wait for Thee
Ready my God, Thy will to see, Open my eyes, illume me,
Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave notes fall on my ear; Everything false will disappear.
Open my mind, that I may read
More of Thy love in word and deed;
What shall I fear while yet Thou dost lead? Only for light from Thee I plead.
Open my mouth, and let me bear,
Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus to share.
Prayer: My Heavenly Father, in this month of discovery, open my eyes, ears, mind and heart and let me discover great truths that will really make me refocus and eventually triumph in the name of Jesus Christ.
