Daily Reading: Acts 20 vs. 32-36
“I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.” vs. 35
Welcome to another beautiful month; the month of giving. This month we shall look into what giving is all about, what to give, who to give, how to give. Giving is God’s heart beat. He taught us how to give. John 3 vs. 16, says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” He gave us an example to follow. A true giver is always very excited. Have you discovered the joy of giving? Perhaps too many of us view giving as an occasion for grief or dread rather than an occasion for joy. Your giving is not only based on money. Smile: When you give a smile to every single person that you meet, you will receive smiles in return. Good Thoughts: As you give out good thoughts about others, and even about what you find yourself doing, you will live a good life, and you will receive good thoughts in return from others.
As you give a kind word to others, your kindness will be returned with kindness. Mankind was created to be kind. You can give a cheerful disposition and your cheerfulness will be cheered and people can only cheer back at you. If someone is near you, smile at that person. What is the response? Smile of course! As you appreciate God and others, your life will be appreciated and in turn you will be greatly valued by others. There are people whose lives are full of encouragement and such will be filled with fresh courage to face each day, and be prepared to attract encouragement from others. When you give honor where honor is due, you are prepared for fresh applause all the time. When you give happiness, you will be unable to avoid the happy feelings that accompany it, and this brings happiness to you as well. Those that give out their time to a greater cause than themselves will be rewarded in ways that you can only imagine. Give hope and watch hopelessness disappear; faith rises, and joy abounds. When you give prayers for your friends and for those who may be perceived as enemies, you are creating a platform for victories. There is so much anger in the air in our world, and these prayers will go a long way to bringing the miraculous into the midst of the madness in the world. Give, give, give and live, live, live.
We have so much to give out, therefore, if you don’t have any money to give, you don’t need to feel bad. There are other ways you can begin to get in the habit of giving. But Peter said, “I don’t have any money for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” – Acts 3 vs. 6 (NLT). Regardless of whether you have money or not, you have something you can give to the people around you. It may be as simple as giving a smile or listening to a friend that is down, but you like Peter have something to give. Giving should be a daily goal. Make it a goal to begin the habit of giving to others today. Don’t wait until someday when you have lots of money. My dear, begin now by using what you have. Giving to others brings big rewards. If you wait until you “have enough to give” you’ll never begin to give. Start today by giving what you have, and you’ll set up great habits for the future. Giving will bring you great rewards – Giving will bring great rewards into your life.
When you get in the habit of giving, you’ll find that you’re continually getting more and more blessed: “If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving—large or small—it will be used to measure what is given back to you.” – Luke 6 vs. 38 (NLT). Giving will bring blessings into your life that you never imagined. When God encourages us to give, he isn’t asking us to take things from us, instead he is trying to get more to us. So whether you have lots of money, or very little money, giving is something that you can start to do today. When you put the principles of giving into motion, you can set yourself up for bigger blessings in the future. Once again, welcome to this month of giving.
Prayer: My Heavenly Father I thank you for giving me the ability to be strong hail and hearty this new month. I give you all the glory. I give you all the praise. In this month of giving, teach me how to give, what to give and the attitude to be a giver in Jesus name Amen.
